Terms of Service

The Clearest Path
Last updated: September 2026 · Version 1.2

This is the same Terms of Service shown in the app, reproduced here in full.

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using The Clearest Path (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Clearest Path ("we," "us," "the operator") is operated by Stephanie Murphy, a sole proprietor based in Ontario, Canada.

1. What The Clearest Path is

The Clearest Path is a reflective decision-making tool. It uses structured questions and AI-generated reflection, informed by Scripture and Christian tradition, to help you think through decisions more clearly. It is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, psychological, or pastoral advice, and it does not speak for God. Reflection generated by the app represents the output of an AI language model responding to a structured prompt, not counsel from a licensed professional, a member of clergy, or any human being reviewing your specific situation.

2. Not a crisis or emergency service

The Clearest Path is not equipped to provide, and does not provide, emergency, crisis, or life-threatening-situation support. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or are otherwise in immediate danger, do not rely on this app. Contact emergency services (such as 911) or an appropriate crisis line (such as 988 in Canada and the United States) directly, or go to your nearest emergency department.

The app includes automated safety screening intended to recognize some indications of crisis and redirect you to appropriate resources instead of generating ordinary guidance. This screening is automated, is not perfect, and must never be relied upon as a safety measure in place of your own judgment or appropriate professional and emergency resources. By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept that this screening may fail to detect a genuine crisis, or may incorrectly flag content that is not one, and that responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others remains with you.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@theclearestpath.app if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

5. Subscriptions and payment

Certain features of the Service ("The Clearest Path Plus") are available only through a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, as applicable, and are subject to their respective terms. Where a free trial is offered, it will automatically convert into a paid subscription at the price shown at sign-up unless you cancel before the trial ends. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period for another period of the same length, at the then-current price, until you cancel through the App Store or Google Play settings on your device. Refunds are handled according to the policies of the App Store or Google Play, not directly by us. We do not guarantee that any specific feature will remain free or paid indefinitely, and reserve the right to change what is included in free and paid tiers with reasonable notice. Where required by applicable law, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice before a price increase takes effect for existing subscribers.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates the rights of others.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying models, prompts, or systems used by the Service.
  • Use the Service to generate content intended to harass, defame, or harm another person.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any safety, security, or access-control feature of the Service.
  • Misrepresent your age or identity in a way intended to bypass eligibility requirements.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms.

7. Content you provide

You retain ownership of the content you enter into the Service (your decisions, journal entries, photos, recordings, and similar content). By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit that content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you, including sending relevant content to our AI processing provider to generate your requested guidance, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of your content, and we do not use it to train AI models.

Some features let you export your own content as a file (for example, a data export or a printable "Decision Record"), which you can then save, print, or share using your device's own tools. Once a file like this leaves the Service, we have no visibility into it and no control over what happens to it next. You are solely responsible for where you save it, who you share it with, and how you store or dispose of it.

8. AI-generated content: no warranty of accuracy

Guidance, reflections, and other content generated by the Service are produced by an AI language model and are provided for reflective and informational purposes only. We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, appropriate for your specific situation, or free of error, bias, or theological disagreement with your own tradition or convictions. You are solely responsible for evaluating and deciding whether and how to act on any guidance the Service provides. Decisions involving your health, finances, legal standing, safety, or relationships should be made with the involvement of appropriately qualified professionals, not on the basis of this app alone.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, original artwork, written content, and underlying software, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service or its content except as expressly permitted for your own personal, non-commercial use of the app.

10. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Service, you agree that we may use them freely to improve the Service, without any obligation to you, credit, or compensation.

11. Copyright concerns

If you believe content within the Service infringes your copyright, contact us at support@theclearestpath.app with a description of the work, where it appears within the Service, and your contact information, and we will investigate in good faith.

12. Apple and Google app store terms

If you downloaded the Service through the Apple App Store, this agreement is between you and us only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the Service. In the event of any failure of the Service to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the Service to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the Service. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the Service, including product liability claims, claims that the Service fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims related to consumer protection or similar legislation. Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling, or discharging any claim that the Service or your use of it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, with the right to enforce them against you. The same principles apply to Google Play where you downloaded the Service through Google Play instead.

13. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including but not limited to Anthropic (AI processing), Supabase (hosting and data storage), RevenueCat, Apple, and Google (subscription processing), and Google Places (location search). We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes in these third-party services that may affect your experience of the Service.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall The Clearest Path, its operator, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including any decision made or action taken in reliance on content generated by the Service, regardless of the theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) CAD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you in full. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer protection, privacy, statutory warranty or other right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Clearest Path and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

17. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in conduct that risks harm to another user, or for other legitimate business reasons, with notice where reasonably practicable.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice within the app or by another reasonable means before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

20. General provisions

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce it later.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account to anyone else without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Force majeure. Neither party is responsible for delays or failures in performance caused by events beyond that party's reasonable control.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any applicable subscription or in-product terms, form the agreement between you and us concerning the Service.
